Klarna available as a payment option at Adorama and sister sites

Adorama has added Klarna as a checkout option on Adorama.com, with Klarna split payments and financing to follow on Scuba.com and SunnySports.com, expanding buy‑now, pay‑later choices for creators buying cameras, drones and pro gear.

Adorama, the New York–based retailer for cameras, video, audio, drones and computer equipment, has added Klarna as a payment method on Adorama.com, the companies announced on Oct. 26. The partnership will extend to Adorama’s sister sites — SunnySports.com and Scuba.com — in the coming weeks, according to the press release.

What customers can expect

Starting Oct. 26, Adorama customers shopping online can choose several Klarna payment options at checkout. The rollout lets shoppers:

  • pay in full for smaller items such as memory cards and camera bags;
  • split the cost of purchases into four interest-free payments for mid-priced items;
  • finance larger purchases such as professional camera bodies, drones and laptops with Klarna’s longer-term financing.

Adorama said the integration aims to give creators and professionals more ways to pay for gear that can be expensive up front but is used for long-term projects.

“Our customers are buying gear they'll rely on for years, so convenient payment solutions is an important part of the buying decision,” said Yoav Shargil, Chief Marketing Officer at Adorama.

In a separate comment, Lisa Robinson, Head of Partner Success, US East Coast and Canada at Klarna, framed the partnership around purchase flexibility for considered buying decisions.

“We're proud to partner with Adorama to give creatives a more flexible way to invest in the tools and ideas that power their craft,” Robinson said.

Broader context for shoppers

The move adds another national merchant to the group of retailers offering point-of-sale installment financing, a segment that includes firms such as Affirm, Afterpay, PayPal and Synchrony among others. For consumers, BNPL options can lower the immediate cash outlay for equipment purchases, but costs and terms vary by provider and by the financing option chosen.

Adorama described itself as a full-service destination for photographers, filmmakers and content creators, offering new and used gear, rentals and professional services. The company has operated in New York for more than 50 years and runs multiple online storefronts.

Klarna said the service has more than 120 million global active users and processes millions of transactions monthly. The companies did not disclose whether Adorama will participate in any promotional financing campaigns or who will underwrite longer-term loans offered through Klarna.

The announcement is a commercial partnership and not a new regulation or consumer‑protection change. Terms, eligibility and costs for Klarna’s plans vary by merchant, the consumer’s credit profile and the financing product selected. Neither company provided details in the release about interest rates, fees, or credit checks for longer-term financing through Klarna.
